WHAT TO EXPECT
Know what to expect.
Choose what comes next.
Start with a few details about your tax situation. An independent firm may follow up to explain its services. You decide whether to hire it.
Tell us your situation.
Hear from a provider.
You decide.
A short request starts the process. Hiring a provider is your choice.
- 01
Start with your situation
Share your estimated balance and a few details so a provider has context for the conversation.
- 02
Hear what professional help involves
A tax resolution firm’s intake or sales representative may contact you to discuss your needs, its services, and fees.
- 03
Choose whether to move forward
Ask questions, review the proposed services and price, and decide whether to hire the firm.
What we do—and who does the work
We collect inquiries from people seeking help with IRS or state back taxes. With your consent, we may share your inquiry with independent tax resolution providers. We may be compensated for referrals.
We do not review your tax account, negotiate with the IRS, provide representation, or decide which tax options you qualify for. Those services, if you choose to purchase them, are offered under a separate agreement with a provider.
Who will call?
The receiving provider may use intake representatives and sales staff to ask questions, explain services and fees, and discuss your next step. Do not assume the first person who calls is an attorney, CPA, or enrolled agent. Ask who would handle any paid professional work.
Provider availability and response times vary; a match is not guaranteed. Submitting an inquiry does not start representation.
Make the first conversation useful
Have your estimated balance, the tax years involved, and any notice number handy. You do not need to upload documents here or provide a Social Security number. Ask for the firm’s legal name before sharing sensitive records.
Before you hire anyone
- Ask who will work on your case and what their qualifications are.
- Request a written scope of work, total fees, and cancellation terms.
- Be cautious about guaranteed outcomes or pressure to pay immediately.
- Consider whether working directly with the tax agency is appropriate.
